Okay, so, many of the people we know who have hard wood (read “HARD wood”) floors additionally have the garland of area rugs, runners, capreting, etc. Why not only wall-to-wall runner it?? Aaaaargh!!!!!! |

Well, it’s trendy. Some think it’s more attractive (including myself). It is neutral. It is more sanitary (doesn’t trap allergens, easier to clean). Even with the rugs that are thrown on top they can thrown in the wash or shaken outside. You can’t do this to wall-to-wall carpeting. Increases the value of the home.
Hardwood floors look and wear better than wall to wall carpets. Our son has allergies and the wood floors are easier to keep clean and the dust down in the house than carpets. We have very few area rugs, but they can be removed and cleaned or replaced much easier than w2w carpets.
wall to wall carpeting is a pain in the butt, ESPECIALLY when you have small children and pets. I LOVE my hardwood flooring because its always beuatiful, and the area rugs are much easier to replace.
Hardwood floors are better for people with allergies as they don’t hold the dust that a carpet does, along with many other allergens. Hardwood floors also last longer then carpet and when maintained properly stay beautiful for years and hold their value alot better than carpets. That being said one of the best upgrades to do on your home is to update the flooring and kitchens and bathrooms along with a fresh coat of paint this will increase the value of your investment.
I think the great thing about hardwood floors is that they’re much easier to clean and maintain, and area rugs can give you more options when it comes to decorating and colors. I have hardwood floors, a black and white theme, and an area rugs I purchased from — and my house looks great.
